This plugin for Wordpress Replaces german umlauts in permalinks, posts, comments, feeds, page title and meta tags.
This plugin is heavily based on the "German Permalinks" plugin from Scott Hanson with modifications form Michael Renzmann.
There are some useful, as I think, additions to Michael's plugin:
I have added the capability to clean the header title text as well as the meta tags. I've also fixed an issue with html entities which lead Ü to convert to Uuml; (without the leading ampersand).

Of course, I didn't like that at all. I was happy to find an existing plugin that I could quickly adopt to my needs.
I tested my plugin with WordPress 2.3 and I assume it will work with new versions for a long time (it is quite simple).
So far, this plugin converts special German characters, only. If you need to have some other characters converted, drop me a line with the details and I'll see what I can do ;)
