Rotating Service Structure moved to Space Shuttle
Verfasst von Rainer Gerhardsam 12.10.2007um 11:05 Uhr.

See how the rotating service structure (RSS) is moved towards the space shuttle on the mobile launcher platform (MLP).

This is the ground-level MLP view, the actual space shuttle can not be seen. When the video starts, watch the shadows. You will see the RSS shadow before you see the RSS itself. There is also a video available with the shuttle-level view (where the space shuttle itself can be seen).

This video was created based on NASA public webcam images, which I compiled into a stream. Pictures were taken in a one-minute interval. There are 4 pictures per second. The pictures were taken during Discovery's STS-120 mission preparation on October, 11th. The RSS was retracted to permit the APU hotfire test to be executed.
